Artist: Ron Miles
Title: Distance For Safety
Format: LP
Label: Prolific Records
Year: 1986
What I did: Engineer, production, mix.
My comments: Our friend Arnie Swenson had started a record label and booked us a few days in Avalance Studio in Denver, where this was recorded live in the studio. I recall the studio's main engineer was horrified because we didn't want to make it sound smooth and glossy, I even remember what he said: "If I'd known you wanted such a crappy sound I would have mis-aligned the tape machines for you!" ("aligning" was a term for the process of tweaking multitrack analog tape machines to keep them at peak performance.)
