Aah yes, now I think we're getting somewhere with this, my 4th solo album. Lots of songs about hauntings, shrieking statues, evil plants, doomed seances, accursed portraits, strange animals, dilapidated cellars, unmentionable entities, madness, death, things worse than death, and so on. It's quite funny. Instrumentally centered around a budget classical guitar (fallen to bits now) and an even cheaper air-powered electric organ (likewise returned to the dust from whence it came.) Mostly recorded in a vast, open, empty barn with just a few microphones to get a raw, naturally reverberant sound along with occasional noises from outside (birds, wind, dogs, farm machinery...) Though the sound and production indeed plays a large part here, I felt a corner had been turned and I'd began to get a tenuous grasp on songwriting.
